Project Description

“I can do it myself.”
This is a welcomed phrase of self-confidence, self-discipline and self-awareness at Río Valley.

What does independence look like at Río Valley Montessori?

  • “Care of Self” is a part of the Montessori Practical Life Curriculum where children do such things as dressing themself, washing their hands, brushing their hair & feeding themself
  • Children have freedom within understood limits, where they decide how to spend their “work” period and free – play time
  • “Care of Environment” is a part of the Practical Life Montessori Curriculum where children do things like water plants, set the table & clean the easel
  • Children prepare and eat their snack when they are hungry; they pour their water when they are thirsty and they choose to work on a mat or at a desk; wherever they feel most comfortable executing their work!

We invite you to visit and see Río Valley independence in action!

“The child, making use of all that he finds around him, shapes himself for the future.”
